Cost Accountant

Tracking & Reporting

• Manage inventory including addition, movements, and reconciliation.
• Perform monthly OH flux analysis. Ensure that all OH spend stays within budget.
• Investigate variances to standard cost.
• Monthly forecasting vs actuals in SAP – ABS of the cogs component
• Ensure accuracy of cogs and inventory accounts each month.
• Assist with reporting for monthly and quarterly reviews to HQ.
• Monthly analysis of cogs, reconciliation and analysis of actual vs Budget

Compliance

• Assist with the process of confirming segregation of duties and checks and balances are in place.
• Work closely with the Corporate Controller to ensure all inventory and cogs accounts are reported in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS as needed.
• Ensure corporate compliance with all related party transactions with regards to seed purchase and sale. 
• Ensure that purchase orders, production orders and inventory movements are processed according to standard operation procedures.
• Review all existing processes and procedures to find ways to reduce inefficiency, strengthen existing processes, and add new procedures as needed.
• Support all audit activities including quarter reviews, year-end and internal audits to ensure timely completion. Maintain filing documentation – Electronic/Hard copy
• Assist with systems and process guideline creation

Planning & Analysis

• Review the cost components and variances each month for accuracy and recommend ways to realize savings.
• Reconcile inventory accounts on a monthly basis.
• Support operational cost budgeting and forecasting
• Additional analysis and projects on an as needed basis.

Requirements

• BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
• 3-5 years cost accounting experience
• SAP knowledge is a must
• Advanced excel skills
• Production accounting experience
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
• Agricultural experience a plus
