Job Summary:

 

The role is part of the Global Stewardship and Compliance Function, responsible for ensuring Product Safety compliance and implementation of responsible and ethical management of UPL’s crop protection, throughout their lifecycle, from cradle to grave. This includes implementing systems, developing and delivering standards/procedures/training, and capacity building of stakeholders to optimize the use and effectiveness of UPL’s products, while reducing potential risks associated with their use.

 

JOb Responsibilities:

 

  • Author GHS-Safety Data Sheets for multiple geographies across the globe and all internal business functions (Regulatory, SCM, R&D, Planning & Logistic, etc), as per applicable hazard communication regulations (GHS, CLP, OSHA, etc) for
    • existing & new actives & end use products (straight & mixtures)
    • industrial chemicals
    • Intermediates/raw-materials and
    • impurities
  • Interpreter Physical, Chemical, Toxicological and Ecotoxicological end points for accurate hazard classification as per various standards.
  • Perform raw material compliance and finished products reviews for various regions as per the Globally Harmonized System (GHS).
  • Serve as a primary contact for dangerous goods classifications/queries for DOT, IATA, and IMDG.

 

  • Maintain data integrity/validation within the Chemical management tool (ExESS) & ERP System to ensure that Safety Data Sheets & information reflect the most current health, safety, environmental, and regulatory information available.
  • Work towards enhancement of Chemical management tool (ExESS).
  • Develop, distribute and timely update standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for safety equipment’s, safe use of products, container management, disposal of empty container & obsolete stock, etc.
  • Lead implementation of UPL’s product stewardship strategy globally. Lead special projects related to Stewardship and aligned with the company's strategy.
  • Ensure capacity building of stakeholders to optimize use and effectiveness of UPL products while reducing potential risks, providing training and awareness generation
  • Contribute to internal audits such as Responsible Care, Dow Jones Sustainability Index etc
  • Regular documentation and publications on success stories on stewardship initiatives. Work with UPL digital teams for greater social media engagements. Strengthen company image as a responsible and sustainable company.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Master’s or doctorate in chemistry
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Project management.
  • Instrumental in establishing processes and governances.
