Advanta is one of the global leaders in Field Crops and Vegetable seeds. Advanta has the world class research, development, production, processing, and commercial teams. As part of internal restructuring, we are exploring professional candidatures for NA - Regional Supply Chain Head role. This position will be based in Hereford, Texas, USA . For this critical role, we are seeking a results-driven, forward-looking, market-savvy Seed Supply Chain Leader who knows how to motivate and work through seed growers, business partners and the SCM team.


Advanta identified large acreage crops like Corn, sunflower, sorghum, canola as its core crops, and has leadership positions in various geographies for these crops. Advanta is part of UPL Ltd., 5th largest Agri Input organization with global crop protection operations and multi-billion-dollar turnover. Revenues are increasing rapidly through both acquisitions and organic growth. Direct operations are in place on eight continents and the Company exports to more than two dozen countries. 


Advanta is currently spending around 10% of revenues on R&D. The Company wants to invest more and make its current and future R&D efforts more productive and expand in various seeds. The organization actively licenses germplasm, traits, and technologies from other organizations and has activities throughout the entire technology range from traditional breeding to leading edge biotechnologies. R&D efforts and expenditures are much more heavily weighted toward product development than basic research.


Regional Supply Chain Head ” will drive and sustain the integrated production management systems and facilitate continuous improvement of production processes to meet targeted volumes of hybrid seeds for domestic and exports markets as per the business plan in terms of quantity, quality and delivery time focusing on control and optimization of cost of production.


Key Position responsibilities


  • Responsible to deliver the target volumes of saleable seeds in quality, in time & within the budget
  • Plan & organize the seed production & co-ordinate with production growers
  • To co-ordinate the activities of F1 production with Basic Seed, Quality Assurance, Plant & Accounts
  • Coordinate CAPEX projects of advanta or 3rd party (exclusive to Advanta )
  • Effective co-ordination with SPR team to ensure timely sowings in optimum planting window and achieve highest productivity in order to control costs
  • Responsible for timely ABS/SAP updating and reconciliation of all inputs and basic seeds
  • To ensure quality seed production and facilitate training on best practices
  • Co-ordinate with seed supply management team for strategic planning & implementation
  • Conduct regular production reviews and timely reporting to line management Preparation of Supply Chain COGS
  • Preparation of Budgets for the projects as well as annual supply chain .
  • Monitoring and tracking monthly & annual financial performances of Supply Chain.
  • Coordinate CAPEX Projects

Other positional parameters:

  • The role reports to the North America Business Director administratively & Global SCM Director functionally.
  • The position will be supported by a team of direct reports based in plant and field ops.
  • Extensive domestic as well as few international travels will be required (20-30%).



Candidate profile

  • An educational degree in agricultural science
  • Desired 15+ years experience in multi country seed production and processing, operations  environment or leadership experience in managing end to end supply chain operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of seed processing
  • A strong leadership profile and the ability to create and maintain an environment where people are motivated and inspired to succeed and achieve ambitious targets in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent coaching skills for contractors
  • A track record in meeting mutually agreed-upon budgets and forecasts.
  • A history of improving efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Sound judgment, high intelligence, and ample common sense.  
  • A high level of integrity and character and the ability to generate trust with all the stakeholders
  • An assertive, proactive, innovative, creative personality with the high physical and intellectual energy necessary to achieve success, whilst showing confidence.
  • Outstanding listening and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, other language skills are preferred but not necessary
  • Budget/Financial acumen

Bachelors degree plus experience or Masters in Supply Chain plus experience desirable.
