Summary: The Finance Controller for UPL NA will oversee the financial operations and 
accounting functions. This role will be responsible for ensuring the accurate preparation of 
financial statements and reporting for multiple subsidiaries and manufacturing 
facility. Candidate need to have a deep understanding of manufacturing cost structures, 
accounting, inventory management, and SAP systems. The Controller will also play a critical 
role in driving process improvements and maintaining compliance with both corporate policies 
and government regulations and IFRS and USGAAP.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual 
    financial statements, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS.

  • Provide comprehensive financial analysis, including variance analysis and financial 
    performance metrics for senior leadership.
  • Manage monthly and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.


Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process for Capex, Finance cost, working capital and 
    working closely with respective cross function and within finance team leaders.
  • Regularly update forecasts and projections based on actual performance, identifying 
    key financial trends and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure financial performance aligns with company goals and strategic initiatives.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Develop and enforce robust internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financial 
    reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, including sales tax, payroll 
    taxes, and corporate income taxes.
  • Manage external audits and facilitate internal audit processes as needed.
  • Stay current with regulatory changes affecting the manufacturing sector (e.g., cost accounting standards, tax laws, etc.).


ERP System Management

  • Lead the implementation, upgrade, and maintenance of the company’s ERP system to 
    ensure financial and manufacturing data integrity.
  • Work closely with IT and operations teams to optimize system functionality and 
    integrate financial processes with manufacturing operations.
  • Provide training and support to other departments on using financial reporting tools and the ERP system.


Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing training, 
    performance reviews, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, ensuring the finance team is aligned with the 
    company’s goals and working effectively with other departments.
  • Oversee the payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, Revenue recognition functions to ensure accurate and timely processing.

Process Improvement & Strategic Planning

  • Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes to increase operational 
    efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Support business expansion efforts, including financial modeling for capital investments, acquisitions, and other growth opportunities.


Qualifications/Requirements: 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (required). MBA or CPA 
    (preferred).
  • Minimum of [5-10] years of progressive accounting experience, with at least [3-5] 
    years in a manufacturing environment.
    Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management in a 
    manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with ERP systems- SAP and financial reporting modules and software.
  • Experience leading or managing teams of accounting professionals.


Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, financial modeling).
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRs, internal controls, and regulatory compliance requirements for manufacturing.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  • CPA, CMA, or other professional accounting certifications (preferred).
    Experience with manufacturing-specific accounting software or modules.
  • Ability to handle complex financial modeling and scenario analysis to support 
    business decisions.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma (helpful but not required).
