JOB Summary:  Working with UPL’s seed and soil health team in North America to verify seed treatment formulation performance in custom blends and mixtures.  Develop UPL’s technical relationships with business customers to identify opportunities and address technical issues.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • MS in Chemistry or related field, PHD preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years in the Agricultural Chemical or related industry preferred
  • Previous experience with seed treatment formulation development and analytical experience a plus.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment. 
  • Must possess the ability to work within a highly regulated area. 
  • Strong detail orientation, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to interpret analytical data and be proficient in communicating these interpretations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills required including word, excel, PowerPoint, and outlook.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

50%   Evaluate custom blend for various seeds such as soybean, sorghum, cotton, wheat as requested by marketing/sales and conduct stability studies. Certify seed treatment samples before shipping to distributors/seed companies and maintain the record of shipping details of custom blends, experimental and commercial samples. Seed Treatment performance tests for different custom blends and conduct shelf life of the treated seeds. Work closely with commercial seed treatment distributors for custom blend/tank mix compatibility to confirm better application technique and Seed Treatment performance tests for different tank mix ratios. Utilize the knowledge of polymers, pigment developers, inoculants and nematicide in seed treatment formulations and conduct bio assays to prove the efficacy performance.

20%  Work with India ST lab to validate the formulation matrix to support manufacturing process in USA.  Compose manufacturing documents for the finished products/SOP for custom blend and monitor the quality consistency. In addition, partners with other North America team members to drive business initiatives.

20%   Stay abreast of industry standards and market trends in seed treatment. Work with cross functional teams such as product development, field development, registration for technical support; supply chain/manufacturing to respond to customer quality concerns. Explore the use of soil health products for its advantage on different crops such as cotton, sorghum, potato, peanut either in-furrow or seed treatment.  Work with these formulations to ensure fit with commercial application equipment. Evaluate innovative ideas from marketing for new biological/micro-nutrients/inoculants in combination with ST components.

10%   Explore business opportunities for new innovation with technology providers or customers.   Identify and evaluate new technologies that may be a good fit for UPL. Participate in 3rd party discussions on potential new technologies
