Job Description:
The successful intern candidate will be a key member of the New Agricultural Technology global team contributing to ongoing research in plant physiology. The position will be based at UPL’s brand new OpenAg™ Center in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, and reporting to the Global Research Lead for Physiology.
The successful candidate will:
- Contribute to conducting lab and greenhouse studies for proof-of-concept testing of experimental technologies and product life cycle management support.
- Perform general laboratory operations, including day-to-day activities, such as research supplies inventory, equipment maintenance, and maintaining plants.
- Possess good observational skills and attention to detail in performing assessments, record-keeping.
- Have demonstrated skill in organizing their time and managing projects.
- Be excited to tackle new challenges and develop new skills.
- Be flexible and willing to help with tasks beyond those mentioned above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Working towards a B.S. (junior or senior year) with at least one year of relevant work experience, or working towards an M.S. or Ph.D. in horticulture, plant physiology, soil science, ag engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office environment and willingness to learn company-specific software.
- Ability to work in greenhouse conditions and lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to be trained in safe operating procedures and exercise them.
- Authorized to work in the United States on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
- Ability to understand and handle information that can be company confidential
