JOB SUMMARY:  

Provide expert support for the compliant shipping and receiving of biological and chemical materials/samples globally. Manage site inventories (chemicals, consumables, and seeds) including procurement, receiving, and distribution. Own the program for hazardous waste handling and disposal at the site. Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements for hazardous materials transportation. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITES: 

  • Manage global import/export processes for biological and chemical samples in compliance with DOT and IATA regulations. 

  • Maintain current certifications for DOT Hazardous Materials Ground Shipper and IATA Dangerous Goods Air Shipper; ensure compliance across all shipments. 

  • Oversee site chemical inventory, including procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution of chemicals and consumables. 

  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of samples and materials. 

  • Own the hazardous waste collection, storage, and disposal program, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. 

  • Maintain accurate documentation for shipments, inventory, and waste management activities. 

  • Support continuous improvement of shipping and inventory processes to enhance efficiency and compliance. 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited college or university, preferably in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline. 

  • Current or ability to obtain DOT and IATA shipper certifications within 90 days of hire. 

  • Ability to work in the United States on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship. 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Experience with procurement and inventory management systems. 

  • Familiarity with hazardous waste handling and disposal procedures. 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and compliance. 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and functions. 

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in hazardous materials shipping, chemical inventory management, or related compliance roles. 

  • Strong understanding of hazardous materials regulations (49 CFR, IATA DGR).
