Job Purpose:

UPL Deutschland GmbH is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing various financial and accounting processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance.

 

Job Description:

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS following the company’s timelines. Ensure timely and accurate closing of the books
  • Annual preparation of Financial Statements according to German GAAP
  • Oversee the invoicing process, ensuring it adheres to internal guidelines (IFRS 15) and drive the dunning process
  • Supervise Accounts Payable function managed by a shared service centre. Monitor payment transactions, cash planning etc.
  • Manage travel expense accounting in DACH region
  • Lead interaction with both external and internal auditors (e.g. statutory audit, tax audit) and tax advisors and coordinate with internal stakeholders to drive a timely completion of audits, tax filings etc.
  • Manage monthly & annual VAT returns
  • Monitor payroll accounts and fixed asset accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from management and external stakeholders such as the tax office, auditors, banks, etc.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Accountant with approx. 5 years of experience in Accounting, Auditing or Finance functions with solid knowledge of Financial Reporting and Accounting processes
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP or other ERP system
  • Knowledge of preparation of financial statements according to HGB and IFRS
  • Advanced MS Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Motivated, flexible, result-oriented and comfortable with periods of high work pressure
  • Fluent command of both German and English, both written and spoken

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Desired: Experience in working in a multinational corporation with exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements for internal processes
