Description:
1. Design & Engineering
- Develop instrumentation specifications, data sheets, and engineering documents.
- Select appropriate instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analyzers, etc.) based on process requirements.
- Prepare instrument index, I/O lists, loop diagrams, hook‑up drawings, JB schedule, etc.
- Support development of control philosophy, cause & effect matrix, and logic narratives.
2. Installation & Commissioning
- Plan and supervise installation of instruments, control valves, PLC/DCS panels, and field wiring.
- Conduct loop checking, calibration, panel testing, and functional testing.
- Participate in pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities to ensure smooth startup of plant systems.
- Troubleshoot issues during startup.
3. Maintenance & Reliability
- Ensure preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance of field instruments.
- Attend and resolve instrument breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Maintain and manage the instrument calibration schedule.
- Analyze repetitive failures and carry out root cause analysis (RCA) for reliability improvement.
4. Control Systems Management
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC, DCS, SCADA, SIS/ESD systems.
- Make logic modifications as per operational requirements while maintaining documentation.
- Ensure backup and version control for all automation systems.
5. Safety, Compliance & Audits
- Ensure compliance with standards like IEC, ISA, ISO, API, ATEX, SIL.
- Conduct instrumentation-related safety studies (HIRA, HAZOP, LOPA support).
- Ensure correct implementation of SIS/SIL loops and safety interlocks.
- Maintain explosion-proof and intrinsically safe equipment records.
6. Vendor & Project Management
- Coordinate with vendors for instrument procurement, FAT/SAT, and technical clarifications.
- Review vendor documents and ensure alignment with project specifications.
- Supervise contractors during shutdowns, turnarounds, and project implementation.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Update and maintain P&IDs, instrument manuals, SOPs, calibration sheets, and compliance records.
- Prepare MIS reports on breakdown analysis, maintenance KPIs, and project progress.
- Maintain asset history in CMMS/AMS (SAP PM, Maximo, etc.).
8. Continuous Improvement
- Recommend improvements to reduce failures and improve energy efficiency.
- Introduce advanced technologies like smart instruments, HART/Fieldbus, IIoT sensors.
- Support digitalization and automation initiatives.
