Job Summary: Responsible for oversight of all importing and exporting operations and trade compliance functions for UPL NA in accordance with all Federal Regulations. Manages Import/Export team members, as well as, vendors that support global supply operations, such as: Freight Forwarding Service Providers and US Customs Brokers. Manages operation's activities and global distribution that support global affiliates, third party manufacturing and non-commercial imports and exports. Additionally, assigns import and export classifications, monitors, tracks, and reconciles Customs entries, administration of trade programs, such as\: C-TPAT(Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism) and Free Trade Agreements, conducts ACE data analysis, manages export licenses, assists with HAZMAT/DG, manages record retention, provides support for logistics incidents and CAPAs and maintains department SOPs and OJTs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
EXPORTS & IMPORTS:
• Design and optimize the transportation network delivery solutions and develop innovative projects that drive improvements in our transportation processes, to include design, measurement and performance while minimizing the variable cost impact on the fulfillment centers.
• Works with product experts to properly assign classifications and other import / export relevant data to new materials.
• Establishes strategic and tactical working relationships with selected freight forwarders and US Customs brokers in support of all UPL NA import and export requirements. This includes analyzing transportation mode options, identifying opportunities to reduce costs, and providing compliant government information to respective agencies. Manages documentation and inventory transactions associated with Customs entries, Import for Export (IFE) and Temporary Importation under Bond (TIB) activities.
• Manage all documentations / tracking/ coordination to clear ship/ deliver shipments clearing through US Customs, Canadian customs, FDA, and other governmental agencies working with forwarders and brokers
• Manage the Duty Drawback process for UPL NA.

COMPLIANCE:
• Enhance, track, and report on metrics which are key performance indicators, allowing performance improvements so that the desired outcomes are achieved to plan and in a timely manner
• Execute process improvements, best practice sharing, and standardization across Global Mile and ATS processes using Lean principles
• Maintains the Import and Export Compliance manuals and ensures their availability to affected personnel.
• Conducts periodic audits of the system, by ad hoc spot checking, and formal annual audits. Facilitates audits by HIC and other.
• Responsible for coordinating, scheduling and assisting with internal audits of all import and export entries and shipments based upon established SOP's.

• Build strong partnerships with operations leadership to help identify and mitigate risk regarding operational processes or new standards in the field
• Conducts initial employment training, annual awareness training, and focused training of employees.

Requirements/Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years experience in International Export/ Import product shipping, preferably of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, consumer packaged goods, or related.
• Experience with US Customs and International shipping guidelines and regulations required.
• Experience with Duty Drawback process preferred.
• Experience working with international clientele while recognizing diversity and an ability to be flexible working with a variety of cultures to obtain solutions.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work and manage in a high energy, fast paced environment.
• Ability to respond to changing priorities and high degree of flexibility.
• Experience with SAP highly preferred, or relevant ERP system
• Intermediate experience with MS Office Products (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication; and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of change management and conflict resolution
• Ability to effectively communicate with peers, customers and management in an ever-changing environment.
