Job Summary: The EHS Technician is responsible for supporting continued development and management of the safety and environmental functions of the plant, as well as, ensuring expansion projects meet applicable legal requirements. This individual will work directly with the Kingstree EHS Manager and the Kingstree Management Team to integrate Occupational, Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements and best practices in to each UPL process. This position will report to the site EHS Manager.

 

Required Skills/Experience: 

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or similar field. 1-3 years experience in manufacturing, industrial plant operations, and environmental management is preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of life critical OSHA standards, fire protection systems, robot safety, PPE selection and proper care, calendared reporting requirements, NPDES, Air, and Waste permitting requirements.
  • Knowledgeable of Hazardous Materials Transportation regulations (DOT, IMDG, IATA)
  • Audit experience is preferred
  • Knowledgeable of Lean Manufacturing concepts preferred
  • Ability to design a OH&S and Environmental Management System structure with ISO45001 & ISO14001 in mind.
  • Lead new equipment, chemical, process launches
  • Develop standardization tools such as Job Safety Analysis, Physical Demand Analysis, LOTO placards, etc.
  • Ensure EHS training requirements are met
  • Knowledge and experience with Industrial hygiene, dust explosion mitigation, process safety management, electrical classifications; root cause analysis, reliability programs, fire protection equipment, non-routine process management, OSHA, FIFRA, and EPA
  • Develop and lead continuous improvement projects to optimize safety programs and minimize the environmental footprint.
  • Lead regulatory, insurance and other audits related to the facility, safety or environmental concerns
  • Propose and lead changes to meet the site objectives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to cooperate and work with all levels of the company to complete projects.
  • Prepare EHS presentation materials for monthly Plantwide meetings, monthly MIS meetings, Safety Alerts, Training materials, etc
  • Investigate incidents and support Supervisors in the completion of incident investigation reports and root case analysis. Identify patterns of injuries.
  • Environmental Compliance – Maintenance and development of environmental programs.  Management of required permits. 
  • Submit annual reports as necessary
  • Hazardous and non-hazardous waste management and mitigation. 
  • Development of waste minimization programs.
