Job Summary: Responsible for maintaining and/or repairing company production and support equipment. Repairs and maintains all plant production machinery in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's specifications and blueprints. Perform tasks related to preventative maintenance, mechanical machine repairs, inspection and testing of equipment and specific projects. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of safety, quality and reliability.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe and electrical systems in the facility.
  • Perform maintenance utilizing skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Responsible for housekeeping and 5S in his or her respective area of work or areas as directed by the departmental supervisor.
  • Completes maintenance work orders issued by scheduler/planner, maintenance lead mechanic, supervisor or maintenance manager.
  • Inspects plant equipment for proper working condition and safe operation.
  • Uses computerized maintenance management system (SAP) to document work orders.
  • Create, revise, and improve work order task plans working with planner/scheduler.
  • Records all parts needed for repairs to be performed and the parts used in the repairs.
  • Reduce unplanned stoppages through effective root cause analysis.
  • Keeps accurate record of downtime of plant equipment.
  • Issues work requests for issues needing attention when equipment is down.
  • Cultivates an environment that helps to build and strengthen the team concept and sets the culture of that Zero Safety Incidents, Zero Quality Defects, and Zero Preventable Stoppages is achievable.
  • Activity participate in accident/incident review process to assist in developing corrective action plans.
  • Ensures that while performing all job tasks they complete in a safe manner. Safety is the plants highest priority. Initiates and acts as facilitator on the floor to promote all safety initiatives.
  • Reports any unsafe condition or acts immediately to stop unsafe act while ensuring to notification to supervisors or EHS team member.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Including interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Abides by UPL NA Inc. company rules, policies and procedures.
  • Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hearing protection, protective eyewear, safety shoes, hard hats, etc.
  • Complies with all company safety guidelines; and OSHA safety and health regulations to ensure a safe working environment at all times.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have 1-3 years of related maintenance experience required.  Experience in packing machines/production machines preferred.  
  • Familiar with manufacturing chemical plant operations a plus.
  • High School or GED required, associate degree in maintenance technology and/ or technical trade certificate preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication stills both verbal & written in order to effectively communicate with managers, supervisors, and coworkers.
  • Must have a basic knowledge hand and power tools
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics and basic electrical repair.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook)
  • Must be able to work weekends or during shutdowns to complete required set up/preventative maintenance needs on machinery.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and a tablet (iOS and android).

  • Must possess an understanding of electronic and mechanical components to troubleshoot and repair.
  • Follows all General Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
