JOB SUMMARY: Handling responsibility for all aspects of health and safety compliance during entire product life-cycle. It’s also responsible for implementing and managing product safety strategies through strong relationships with operations by leading safety training, performing facility inspections/audits as well as re-enforcing the company’s HSE policy and global regulatory requirement

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Time to time write, verify and maintain hazard communication documents including GHS Safety Data Sheets (GHS-SDS) for
    • existing & new actives & end use products (straight & mixtures)
    • industrial chemicals
    • Intermediates/raw-materials
    • impurities
  • Serve as a primary contact for dangerous goods classifications for DOT, IATA, and IMDG
  • Provide technical support and co-ordinate with internal key functions i.e. R&D (chemistry & field), regulatory, SCM, safety, Customer care, etc. for product safety and product shipping (storage & transportation) related document requirement.
  • Timely support to assure compliance with domestic and international chemical regulations.
  • Maintain product safety information to meet routine and growing business needs.
  • Responsible for selecting, implementing, maintaining and improving product safety software – WERCS
  • Record & maintain safety rules & regulations for important business countries, globally
  • Co-ordinate with regulatory to ensure SDS and product labeling is in compliance.
  • Drive safety initiatives in respect to health, safety, and environment, globally/at all manufacturing units.
  • Develop review/auditing mechanism to monitor HSE compliances at manufacturing locations.
  • Develop process to monitor the compliance management areas (log, report and respond)
  • Interface between all the key business functions (regulatory, supply chain) to meet the safety compliances.
  • Develop, distribute and timely update standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for safety equipment’s, safe use of products, container management, disposal of empty container & obsolete stock, etc.,
  • Implement, manage and enhance the safety program, while assisting in safety training, leading inspections, and performing audits to promote employee safety and maintain compliance with applicable health and safety standards.
  • Perform duties necessary to ensure health and safety compliance, including but not limited to oversight of the company’s safety training programs, conducting site and contractor incident investigations, safety reviews, hazard assessments, as well as participation in public awareness meetings
  • Monitor regional training programs for efficiency and effectiveness.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 10 years working experience in product safety, regulatory, regulatory compliance function.
  • Master’s or doctorate in chemistry
  • Strong chemistry background and relevant experience (preferred)                
  • Demonstrated experience performing product safety assessments using product safety software and web publishing systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in development and maintenance of SDS for mixture products.
  • Experience supporting label and SDS alignment.
  • Experience implementing and monitoring HSE policies at manufacturing footprints.
  • Detail oriented and able to manage to milestones and deadlines.
  • Strong safety orientation and thorough understanding of driving safety procedures.
  • Observant and thorough while auditing to identify critical issues needing attention and opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong computer skills especially with spreadsheet applications (MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, Access). SAP knowledge a plus      
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to communicate within a global organization
