Role OVERVIEW 

The SAP BI Platform Lead will be responsible for the design, management, and delivery of SAP platforms like SAP BW, SAP BPC, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) as well as integration and orchestration platforms like SAP Data Intelligence (SAP DI) and SAP Datasphere. Collaborate with an experienced team of data professionals, while you shadow data-driven projects, architecture calls, and data strategy sessions. This will include reviewing how our existing solutions are delivered and proposing alternative approaches wherever beneficial, as well as working to provide streamlining and automation of existing data pipelines and processes. This role encompasses platform delivery, data integration, license management, monitoring of the platforms, vendor management, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) management, collaboration with support teams, driving adoption and alignment with architecture best practices. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Design and Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing management of SAP platforms like SAP BW, SAP BPC, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) as well as integration and orchestration platforms like SAP Data Intelligence (SAP DI) and SAP Datasphere use cases across different platforms, ensuring they are optimized for performance, scalability, and user experience. 

• Platform Integration: Ensure seamless integration of SAP BI platforms with existing systems and data sources.  

• Data Delivery: Ensure the right practices are followed for data integration, data quality and data governance across all the SAP BI platforms. 

• Collaboration with Technical Team: Work closely with the architecture team to receive guidance on platform design, data model design, security measures, and governance practices. Conduct regular review with the architecture team and collaborate for roadmap planning. Coordinate and collaborate with infrastructure team for implementing cloud best practices for platforms. Colloborate with security, governance and audit team to conduct vulnerability assessments, audits, and risk evaluations and lead mitigation efforts in response to security vulnerabilities and audit findings. 

• Technical Strategy: Develop and implement strategies for SAP BI platform maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements to keep pace with technological advancements and business requirements. 

• Data management: Define and enforce data governance standards, ensuring proper data lineage, metadata management, data quality monitoring, and data privacy protocols are followed. Implement and enforce governance frameworks, including data access controls, user permissions, and audit trails to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations. 

• License Management: Oversee license management of SAP BI platforms, identify opportunities to optimize license usage and reduce costs, and work closely with procurement and finance teams to manage license renewals, track usage, and negotiate licensing terms. 

• Adoption Tracking: Monitor and track user engagement gathering feedback to improve usability and promote continued adoption. 

• Support Collaboration: Assist internal support team to ensure timely issue resolution for platform-related incidents and service requests. Work closely with the support team to provide them with the necessary technical documentation, training, and guidance for troubleshooting common platform issues. Coordinate with vendors and OEM partners when issues cannot be resolved internally and ensure the support team is informed of progress. 

• Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends for platform capabilities and find opportunities to improve the deliveries. 

• Vendor Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for all vendors and OEMs. Manage relationships with software vendors as applicable, ensuring service-level agreements (SLAs) are met and that the organization’s needs are prioritized. Assist in contract negotiations, renewals, and licensing agreements with vendors and OEM partners. 

• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of SAP BI platform engineers, developers and administrators. Establish a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team. Provide guidance on technical challenges, ensuring best practices are followed across all projects. 

QUALIFICATION 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics. Master's degree preferred. 

• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in managing SAP BI platforms like SAP BW, SAP BPC, SAC 

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in managing integration and orchestration platforms like SAP Data Intelligence (SAP DI) and SAP Datasphere 

• Proven experience leading platform technical projects, including upgrades, integrations, and optimization initiatives. 

TECHNICAL SKILLS 

• Proficient in managing SAP BI platforms - SAP BW, SAP BPC, SAC 

• Proficient in managing integration and orchestration platforms like SAP Data Intelligence (SAP DI) and SAP Datasphere 

• Experience in extracting data from SAP (ECC, SOH and S4 HANA) from Tables, Functions and BW Extractors using batch and CDC - SLT, ODP, OData, CDS approaches 

• Strong understanding of data integration, ETL processes, and data modeling. 

• Knowledge of ABAP and CDS views is preferred 

• Experience with platform security, governance, and audit best practices.
