Glasshouse Technician and Sample Coordinator

To offer expert growing experience in both greenhouse and controlled environment settings to support to the New Agricultural Technology Team.  Drive greenhouse efficiency and output.  Provide practical and expert support for the shipping and receiving of biological and chemical materials.


  • Help plan and carry out efficient greenhouse growing processes that maximize work-flow.
  • Maintain seamless operation of greenhouse infrastructure and equipment.
  • Maximize output of greenhouse by maintaining high plant occupancy.
  • Deliver plant material to functional groups to meet their operational needs. 
  • Provide Leadership and technical growing expertise in the greenhouse.
  • Work closely with glasshouse manager and team of greenhouse technicians to plan and carry out research experiments, studies and trials in the greenhouse.
  • Work both alone and with team to makes pots, seed and transplant, maintain plants, make chemical applications, harvest, clean greenhouse bays, handle waste devitalization.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience growing plants in greenhouses and controlled environments. Experience growing both traditional and specialty crops desired.  Must be able to work in greenhouse conditions and lift 50 lbs.
  • Current NC Pesticide License or ability to obtain
  • Knowledge and experience with controlled environment automation software such as Priva or Argus required
  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited college or university, preferably in Agricultural, Crop Science or Biological discipline
  • Ability to work in the United States on an on-going basis without company sponsorship


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to understand concepts of, and carry out plant research experiments, studies and trials.  Including bioassays, insect assays, etc.
  • Proven track record of growing, maintaining, sampling and harvesting a variety of plants in both greenhouses and growth chambers. 
  • Experience with specialty crops desired.
  • Experience designing and implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plans and applying pesticides.
  • Ability to follow and carry out SOPs and WIs
  • Understanding of greenhouse and lab safety, biosafety and stewardship best practices.
  • Practical experience with shipping and receiving either biological or chemical samples.  Must be willing to train and certify to ship all required materials.
